One of my managers in corporate encouraged me to take classes towards my MBA, the company would pay for it, and maybe an MBA would give me the knowledge and confidence to start or buy a business someday. My first class was marketing, and the final project was to create a business plan. I chose recruiting as my business. What resulted was a 13-page blueprint that convinced me I should start a recruiting business. So I did!

Our first placement was for a Developer with a large global company. We generally stayed with recruiting developers and architects until we placed our first System Engineer with a local MSP (Managed Service Provider). This company was willing to partner and fine-tune our process, benefitting both companies. 25 hires later, with this MSP, our niche with infrastructure recruiting was alive. We started to let go of business with remaining corporate customers.
Since then, we have developed a unique Business Development process and partnerships with MSPs nationwide. Our BD process and our targeted approach to finding System Administrators and Engineers with MSP experience is a winning combination. We continue to refine both.

Our Story

Vertical Talent Solutions started after a 15-year obsession of wondering what business Ted would start. Like strange but intriguing and sometimes funny YouTube videos that find us, recruiting found Ted. In 2013, after handing in a business plan for an MBA course on starting a recruiting firm, the answer was right in front!
VTS started in 2014, and we have evolved into something pretty cool. Within months of starting the business, Ryan was hired halfway around the world. Ted and Ryan were recruiting for various large companies and skill sets in Connecticut and across the country. Since 2014, we have had great team members at various times. At the end of 2019, Ryan and I decided to build a team of recruiters.
In April 2020, Ted received a call from Jeff Bauer that changed his life. Jeff asked if Ted would find value in getting to know and helping other CEOs, and this is when Jeff introduced me to Vistage. In addition to building awesome relationships, Jeff immediately became an effective business coach, encouraging me to offer our marketing service, which grew to equal our recruiting business within four months—directly impacting our bottom line within just a few months of joining Vistage. In addition, Jeff has provided the guidance and tools for me to identify and work on strengths and weaknesses, blindspots, and areas of improvement for my business and myself. And he provides honest feedback in a professional way. As a business owner, I never thought I would voluntarily have a boss, let alone elect to pay one to manage me; I highly recommend it!
Although recruiting is our core business, we also have a marketing team and service. VTS has managed over 60 marketing accounts, including our own. That is a lot of trial and error, which directly impacts our recruiting results. We figured out a way that works to do both for our recruiting business, and we now offer what we know as a service to you.
