One of my managers in corporate encouraged me to take classes towards my MBA, the company would pay for it, and maybe an MBA would give me the knowledge and confidence to start or buy a business someday. My first class was marketing, and the final project was to create a business plan. I chose recruiting as my business. What resulted was a 13-page blueprint that convinced me I should start a recruiting business. So I did!
Our first placement was for a Developer with a large global company. We generally stayed with recruiting developers and architects until we placed our first System Engineer with a local Managed Service Provider (MSP). This company was willing to partner and fine-tune our process, benefiting both companies. 25 hires later with this MSP, our niche with infrastructure recruiting was alive. We started to let go of business with remaining corporate customers.
Since then, we have developed a unique Business Development process and partnerships with MSPs nationwide. Our BD process and our targeted approach to finding System Administrators and Engineers with MSP experience is a winning combination. We continue to refine both.

Our Story
Vertical Talent Solutions started with a simple idea and a lot of curiosity about what kind of business Ted would eventually build. As it turned out, recruiting found him. In 2013, while writing a business plan for an MBA course on starting a recruiting firm, the answer became clear. The business plan stayed, but the MBA did not.
VTS officially launched in 2014 and quickly began evolving into something special. Within months, Ryan joined the team from halfway around the world, and together Ted and Ryan recruited across Connecticut and throughout the country for a wide range of companies and technical skill sets. Over the years, VTS has had the opportunity to work with great people, grow alongside strong team members, and continuously refine how we serve both clients and candidates.
By the end of 2019, Ted and Ryan made the decision to build a team of recruiters around Ryan. When Randall joined, the vision started to take shape in a bigger way. What began as a recruiting business was becoming a company with a clear purpose: helping great people and great companies find the right long-term fit.
Coaching has also played a major role in the VTS story. Since being introduced to the idea at Tony Robbins’ Business Mastery in Las Vegas in 2015, mentorship and outside perspective have remained a core part of how the business has grown. In April 2020, Ted received a call from Jeff Bauer that would have a lasting impact. Jeff introduced Ted to Vistage, which opened the door to valuable relationships, stronger leadership, and better tools for building the business with more clarity and intention. Through honest feedback, guidance, and accountability, Jeff helped Ted sharpen both the company’s direction and his own leadership.
Today, VTS is focused on what it does best: helping MSPs hire top IT talent and helping IT professionals find companies where they can truly thrive. We understand the MSP world because we work in it every day. We know how important it is for employers to find candidates with the right technical background, communication style, pace, and mindset. And we know candidates are not just looking for a job. They are looking for a place where they can grow, contribute, and feel valued.
